Of Counsel
Expertise:
Corporate and Tax Structuring, Digital Assets, Financial Regulation

William (Will) Milne is a lawyer with over a decade of experience advising boards, founders and private clients at the intersection of law, tax and finance. He has acted as external counsel and general counsel to public companies, private businesses, hedge funds and venture-backed startups in complex, cross-border mandates.

‍

At LawBEAM, Will advises on corporate and international tax structuring, treasury and custody arrangements, tokenisation of financial products, and the design of governance and control frameworks that hold up to audit and regulatory scrutiny.

‍

Will created the legal framework and led risk management for the first real-world, U.S. government tax receivable-secured, on-chain yield structure, work that required reconciling established security and receivables law with on-chain settlement and investor protection requirements.

‍

He also advises clients on responses to regulatory and law-enforcement inquiries, including subpoenas, information requests and data-production obligations across Canadian and international jurisdictions, and represents clients in cooperative engagements with domestic and foreign authorities on fraud-related, asset-freeze and cross-border matters, managing disclosures to limit scope and reputational exposure.
